Jennie Garth’s Heartfelt Tribute to Shannen Doherty
Jennie Garth was among the many former co-stars who paid tribute to Shannen Doherty following the sad news of her passing on Sunday. Garth shared a touching photo of the two from their days on the iconic show Beverly Hills, 90210, in the 1990s.
Garth expressed her deep sorrow, writing, “I am still processing my tremendous grief over the loss of my longtime friend Shannen, the woman I have often described as one of the strongest people I have ever known. Our connection was real and honest.”
She also addressed the well-known reports of on-set friction between her and Doherty, which she has openly discussed in the past. In a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Garth admitted they had a heated argument once that nearly escalated, but they reconciled and remained friends.
“We were so often pitted against each other, but none of that reflected the truth of our real relationship, which was one built on mutual respect and admiration,” Garth continued. “She was courageous, passionate, determined, and very loving and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories. My heart breaks for her family and Bowie and all the people who loved her. 💔”
The last sentence referred to Doherty’s beloved dog, Bowie, who was by her side when she passed.
Shannen Doherty passed away on Saturday at the age of 53 after a prolonged battle with cancer.
